Tektites & Impact Glass

Tektites and Impact Glass

Explore our collection of tektites and impact glass, natural wonders formed from the intense heat and pressure of meteorite impacts on Earth’s surface. Unlike meteorites, which originate in space, tektites are created when a meteorite hits the Earth, melts the surrounding rock, and ejects it into the atmosphere. The molten material then cools and falls back to Earth as glassy, often aerodynamic forms. These rare and fascinating materials are prized by collectors, crystal healers, and geology enthusiasts alike.

Libyan Desert Glass

Libyan Desert Glass is a stunning yellow-golden impact glass found in the Sahara Desert. Formed approximately 29 million years ago, it is believed to have resulted from an ancient meteorite airburst or impact. This high-silica glass was even used in ancient Egyptian jewelry — famously featured in a pectoral worn by King Tutankhamun. It’s highly valued for both its rarity and metaphysical properties.

Moldavite

Moldavite is a forest-green tektite found primarily in the Czech Republic. Formed around 15 million years ago during a meteorite impact in what is now Germany (the Ries crater), Moldavite is known for its translucent green color and intense energetic qualities. It is a favorite among crystal collectors and is often used in jewelry and spiritual work.

Other Tektites and Impact Glasses
Our collection may also include various other natural impact glasses and tektites in shades of black, brown, or green, each with unique textures and shapes formed by high-energy meteorite events. From sculpted tektites to rare forms of fused terrestrial rock, these specimens reflect the dramatic forces of cosmic collisions. Availability varies, so check back often for new additions.
